Een boekje voor de allerkleinste met het hele eenvoudige verhaal van Laura’s verjaardag. Korte zinnen, simpele tekst, bekende tekst. Pa maakt een houten poppetje als vriendje voor Charlotte, Ma geeft 5 cakejes en Mary een zelfgemaakt jurkje voor Charlotte. Pa speelt viool en “pop, goes the weasel” en de tekst van het liedje staat achter in het boekje. 

Het boekje heeft een muziekknop, als je daar op drukt wordt “pop,Goes the waesel” gespeeld.

Tekeningen:

De tekeningen zijn van Renée Graef. De tekeningen staan over de hele bladzijde. De eerste tekening is van een meisje dat op een bed zit, vlakbij het bed zit een hond, achter het bed loopt een poes, haar pop ligt naast haar. Op het volgende plaatje ligt het meisje op de houten vloer en kijkt naar haar pop tegen de muur en een houten mannetje. Op de volgende tekening geeft Mary Laura een jurkje voor haar pop. Ma staat achter Laura en bewondert mee het jurkje, op de tafel staat een bord met 5 cakejes. Dan volgt de tekening van de huiskamer en Pa zit op een stoel en speelt viool. Laura en Mary staan voor hem te klappen. Ma zit met Carrie op de schommelstoel voor het vuur. De laatste tekening is van Laura in slaap, naast haar de pop. Pa speelt nog viool en Ma zit met een slapende Carrie.

Eigen mening:

Simpel boekje, ik heb het voor de plaatjes. Er zit een knop op waar muziek uit komt, Louis heeft deze gemaakt, eerst was ie stuk. Mooie plaatjes van Renée Graef. Nieuwe tekeningen, nog niet bekend uit de boeken die ik al heb. Mooie tekeningen, lief. De reden waarom ik dit boekje wilde.

Summary:

A book for the very youngest with the very simple story of Laura's birthday. Short sentences, simple text, well-known text. Pa makes a wooden doll as a friend for Charlotte, Ma gives 5 cupcakes and Mary a homemade dress for Charlotte. Pa plays the violin and "pop, goes the weasel" and the lyrics of the song are in the back of the book.

The book has a music button, when you press it, "pop, Goes the waesel" is played.

Drawings:

The drawings are by Renée Graef. The drawings are all over the page. The first drawing is of a girl sitting on a bed, a dog is sitting near the bed, a cat is walking behind the bed, her doll is lying next to her. In the next picture the girl is lying on the wooden floor and is looking at her doll against the wall and a wooden man. In the next drawing Mary gives Laura a dress for her doll. Ma is standing behind Laura and admires the dress, on the table is a plate with 5 cupcakes. Then follows the drawing of the living room and Pa is sitting on a chair and playing the violin. Laura and Mary are clapping for him. Ma is sitting with Carrie on the rocking chair in front of the fire. The last drawing is of Laura asleep, next to her the doll. Pa is still playing the violin and Ma is sitting with a sleeping Carrie.

Own opinion:

Simple book, I have it for the pictures. There is a button on it that plays music, Louis made it, it was broken at first. Beautiful pictures by Renée Graef. New drawings, not yet known from the books I already have. Beautiful drawings, sweet. The reason why I wanted this book.

Tekeningen:

De kaft is alleen van Renée Graef en daardoor mooi. De andere tekeningen zijn minder lieflijk en minder specifiek van Laura. Een vergiet, een wortel, een verzameling ingrediënten, een bakpan met gehaktballetjes, een appel, een ketel boven een vuur, glazen limonade, bakplaat met koekbolletjes en later met koekjes, cakejes en glazen met melk en popcorn.

Eigen mening:

Gekocht in 2020, ontvangen in 2021. Ik wilde het boekje vooral voor de plaatjes, maar die vallen dus een beetje tegen. De recepten zijn wel leuk.

Drawings:

The cover is only by Renée Graef and therefore beautiful. The other drawings are less lovely and less specific by Laura. A colander, a carrot, a collection of ingredients, a frying pan with meatballs, an apple, a kettle over a fire, glasses of lemonade, a baking tray with cookie balls and later with cookies, cupcakes and glasses with milk and popcorn.

Own opinion:

Bought in 2020, received in 2021. I mainly wanted the book for the pictures, but they are a bit disappointing. The recipes are nice.

Het is weer een kinderboekje van Laura Ingalls Wilder over de familie. Pa, Ma, zus, baby, grootmoeder/ oma, tante, broer (Willie van Nellie), oom, grootvader/ opa, neef/ nicht. Bij ieder familielid staat een kort zinnetje dat slaat op de tekening. Het is allemaal uit het kleine huis in het grote bos of het kleine huis op de prairie en een beetje kleine huis aan de rivier.

Tekeningen:

De tekeningen zijn van Renée Graef en immer lief. Duidelijk, warm, veelzeggend en passend bij de zin. Heel liefdevol. Voor de tekeningen heb ik het boek. Ook elk familielid heeft zijn kleine eigen fotootje in het klein. Op het eerste plaatje kust Ma de meisjes goedenacht, dan legt Pa zijn viool in de kist in de huifkar, Mary en Laura spelen met Carrie die haar eerste stapjes zet, Nellie Oleson met broertje Willie is het volgende plaatje, een baby in de armen van haar moeder, Laura die de handen vasthoudt van haar tante in een mooie jurk in een slaapkamer, Oom George die op de trompet blaast. Het volgende plaatje is van grootmoeder die danst en allemaal mensen kijken toe, dan een plaatje van grootvader met een juk met twee emmers en achter hem loopt Pa ook met een juk. Het laatste plaatje is van meisjes die elkaar gedag zeggen, dik ingepakt in een besneeuwd bos. En op de laatste pagina staan een soort portret-foto’s/ tekeningen van iedereen die voorbij is gekomen in een cirkel.

Eigen mening:

Het boek ontvangen in 2021. Het zou “zeer goede conditie” zijn, maar dat viel vies tegen. De binding was los. Het boekje was vies en er zaten biebstickers op. Ik heb alles verwijderd, de bladzijden geplakt met plakband en schoongemaakt en toen was het zeker een mooi boekje. Ik heb het boekje vooral vanwege de tekeningen en die zijn mooi.

Each family member has a short sentence that refers to the drawing. It is all from the little house in the big woods or the little house on the prairie and a little bit of on the banks of Plum creek.

Drawings:

The drawings are by Renée Graef and always sweet. Clear, warm, meaningful and fitting with the sentence. Very loving. I have the book for the drawings. Each family member also has their own little photo in miniature. In the first picture, Ma kisses the girls goodnight, then Pa puts his violin in the box in the covered wagon, Mary and Laura play with Carrie who takes her first steps, Nellie Oleson with little brother Willie is the next picture, a baby in her mother's arms, Laura holding her aunt's hands in a beautiful dress in a bedroom, Uncle George blowing the trumpet. The next picture is of grandmother dancing and all the people watching, then a picture of grandfather with a yoke with two buckets and behind him Pa also walks with a yoke. The last picture is of girls saying goodbye to each other, wrapped up in a snowy forest. And on the last page are a kind of portrait photos/drawings of everyone who passed by in a circle.

Own opinion:

Received the book in 2021. It was supposed to be "very good condition", but that was disappointing. The binding was loose. The book was dirty and there were library stickers on it. I removed everything, taped the pages and cleaned it and then it was definitely a beautiful book. I have the book mainly because of the drawings and they are beautiful.

Weer een kinderboekje, deze keer over de dieren die voorkomen in de kleine-huis serie. De tekst is erg simpel, korte zinnen, nauwelijks verhaal. De dieren die benoemd worden zijn de hond, beer, kat, kuiken, koe, hert, paard, varken, konijn en wolf. Bij elk benoemd dier staat in welk het boek het voorkomt.

Tekeningen:

De tekeningen zijn van Doris Ettlinger. Haar tekenstijl komt erg overeen met die van Renée Graef, dus de tekeningen zijn lief en mooi. Elk dier heeft zijn eigen tekening, paginagroot. Op de tekening van Jack de hond staat Laura er bij, die een poot krijgt. Bij de tekening van de kat is de lichtinval door het raam mooi getekend. Bij de tekening van het paard houdt Mary haar hand bij de mond van het paard en bij het hert spiekt Laura om de hoek van de struik. De plaatjes van het kuiken in Ma’s schort en van Laura en Carrie tegenover de wolf, lijken erg op de tekeningen van Garth Williams. De koe heeft een krans van vlekken op haar zij en het varken vindt eikels in het bos. De konijntjes springen in het rond en beer likt honing van zijn poot.

Eigen mening:

Besteld eind 2020, ontvangen begin 2021. Mooi boekje, nog netjes, met harde kaft. Tekst hoef je het niet perse voor te doen, erg simpel en ik weet zelf wel uit welk boek het dier komt. De plaatjes zijn wel weer mooi.

Another children's book, this time about the animals that appear in the little house series. The text is very simple, short sentences, hardly any story. The animals that are named are the dog, bear, cat, chick, cow, deer, horse, pig, rabbit and wolf. Each named animal is accompanied by the book in which it appears.

Drawings:

The drawings are by Doris Ettlinger. Her drawing style is very similar to that of Renée Graef, so the drawings are sweet and beautiful. Each animal has its own drawing, full page. In the drawing of Jack the dog, Laura is there, who gets a paw. In the drawing of the cat, the light coming through the window is beautifully drawn. In the drawing of the horse, Mary holds her hand by the horse's mouth and in the drawing of the deer, Laura peeks around the corner of the bush. The pictures of the chick in Ma's apron and of Laura and Carrie opposite the wolf, are very similar to the drawings of Garth Williams. The cow has a wreath of spots on her side and the pig finds acorns in the forest. The rabbits jump around and the bear licks honey from his leg.

Own opinion:

Ordered at the end of 2020, received early 2021. Beautiful book, still neat, with hard cover. You don't necessarily have to demonstrate the text, very simple and I know which book the animal comes from. The pictures are beautiful again.

De vijfde tekening is van Ma dit Laura 5 cakejes op een bord geeft, tekening 6 is van een meisje in rood nachthemd dat 6 stukken snoep uitpakt. In tekening 7 staat Laura aan d rand van een hok te kijken naar 7 biggetjes. Op tekening 8 zet Pa een raam in een blokhut met 4 ruitjes, en er staat nog een raam onder. Tekening 9 is van Mary die naait aan haar nine-patch-quilt en tekening 10 is van grootvader met het juk met twee emmers en nog emmers er omheen.

Eigen mening:

Boekje ontvangen begin 2021, besteld in 2020. Nog een heel netjes boekje. Schattig boekje voor de tekeningen, niet perse voor de tekst. En de tekeningetjes zijn toch weer nieuw en de moeite waard.

The fifth drawing is of Ma giving Laura 5 cakes on a plate, drawing 6 is of a girl in a red nightgown unwrapping 6 pieces of candy. In drawing 7, Laura is standing at the edge of a pen looking at 7 piglets. In drawing 8, Pa puts a window in a log cabin with 4 panes, and there is another window underneath. Drawing 9 is of Mary sewing her nine-patch quilt and drawing 10 is of Grandfather with the yoke with two buckets and more buckets around it.

Own opinion:

Booklet received early 2021, ordered in 2020. Still a very neat booklet. Cute book for the drawings, not necessarily for the text. And the drawings are still new and worth it.

Tekeningen:

De tekeningen zijn van Renée Graef en daarom wilde ik het boekje. De bekende lieve tekeningen met veel details. Mooi en warm. De tekeningen zijn over de hele pagina heen getekend. Er is een tekening van Mary en Laura in de keuken, Laura likt een lepel af. Dan een tekening dat de familie arriveert en elkaar begroet in de blokhut. De tekening daarna is van 5 sokken aan de schoorsteenmantel met wanten en snoep er in en één met een pop. De volgende tekening is dat Laura de pop pakt. En de laatste tekening is van 4 meisjes die de pop bewonderen.

Eigen mening:

Boekje ontvangen in 2021. Ik wilde het alleen voor de plaatjes en daarvoor is het de moeite waard. De geluidknop deed het helaas niet, maar Louis is gaan proberen en heeft ‘m gefixed, waardoor het deuntje nu weer duidelijk klinkt. Er was geschreven op de voorkant met watervaste stift, maar dat heb ik er grotendeels af kunnen krijgen.

Summary:

A children's book, short sentences, short text, thin book on hard cardboard. It is about the Christmas party in the big woods, where the preparations, the arrival of the family, hanging up the socks and unpacking the presents and Laura gets Charlotte are discussed.

Drawings:

The drawings are by Renée Graef and that is why I wanted the book. The well-known sweet drawings with many details. Beautiful and warm. The drawings are drawn over the entire page. There is a drawing of Mary and Laura in the kitchen, Laura licking a spoon. Then a drawing of the family arriving and greeting each other in the log cabin. The drawing after that is of 5 socks on the mantelpiece with mittens and candy in them and one with a doll. The next drawing is of Laura taking the doll. And the last drawing is of 4 girls admiring the doll.

Own opinion:

Booklet received in 2021. I only wanted it for the pictures and for that it is worth it. The sound button didn't work unfortunately, but Louis went to try and fixed it, so the tune now sounds clear again. There was writing on the front with a waterproof marker, but I was able to get most of that off.

Tekeningen:

Mooie tekeningen die toch vooral door Renée Graef lijken getekend, dus lief, veelzeggend en mooi. Maar er staat dat Susan McAliley ook mee heeft geïllustreerd. Er is een tekening van Laura voor het huis op de prairie, van Ma die in de tuin aan het werken is en Laura komt aanrennen, van Mary en Laura die zaad in grond stoppen, van pa die met zijn dochters in de schemer onder de sterren naar de tuin kijkt en van Laura met haar schort vol met groente.

Eigen mening:

Ik heb het boekje gekocht eind 2020, ontvangen begin 2021. Nog een erg netjes boekje. Ik wilde het voor de tekeningen van Renée Graef en die zijn zo lief, zoals ik hoopte.

Drawings:

Beautiful drawings that seem to be drawn mainly by Renée Graef, so sweet, meaningful and beautiful. But it says that Susan McAliley also helped illustrate. There is a drawing of Laura in front of the house on the prairie, of Ma working in the garden and Laura coming running, of Mary and Laura putting seeds in the ground, of Pa looking at the garden with his daughters in the twilight under the stars and of Laura with her apron full of vegetables.

Own opinion:

I bought the book at the end of 2020, received it at the beginning of 2021. Still a very neat book. I wanted it for the drawings by Renée Graef and they are so sweet, as I had hoped.

Op zich onbekende tekeningen, lieve tekeningen. Laura is wel wat groot in vergelijking met pa, zeker als je weet dat ze heel jong was toen dit gebeurde. De tekeningen zijn van Laura die door een open deuropening kijkt, Laura met zonnehoed die toekijkt hoe pa planken zaagt, Laura zonder zonnehoed die pa de hamer aangeeft, Laura en pa bij een solide dichte deur, de blokhut bij ondergaande zon met een dichte deur. 

Eigen mening:

Simpel boekje wat ik wilde hebben voor de plaatjes. Gekregen begin 2021. Voor het verhaal hoef je het niet te hebben, maar de tekeningen zijn wel weer heel lief.

Own opinion:

Simple book that I wanted for the pictures. Received early 2021. You don't need it for the story, but the drawings are very sweet.

Dat ze in de ochtend helpt met het huis schoon te maken en in de middag buiten speelt. Dan kijkt ze naar dieren of plukt bloemen. Laura vindt het leuk om op de prairie te wonen.

Tekeningen:

De tekeningen vertellen eigenlijk het verhaal. Ze zijn mooi en lieflijk en levend. Gemaakt door Renée Graef en Susan McAliley. De tekeningen zijn: een meisje in de wind voor een huis op de prairie, een meisje aan het vegen, twee meisjes in het gras, een prairie-diertje en een meisje op de prairie dat uitkijkt over ontgonnen land en een boerderij. Verder zijn er nog kleine plaatjes van dieren, een zonnehoed en twee liggende meisjes.

Eigen mening:

Dit boekje in 2021 ontvangen met de zending van Susan Dugan. Ik wilde het boekje om de serie kinderboekjes compleet te maken en vanwege de tekeningen van Renée Graef. En die zijn de moeite waard. Het verhaal is erg simpel.

Summary:

A simple children's book with simple text. The story always consists of 1 or 2 lines per page. It is about who Laura is and that she lives on the prairie. That she helps clean the house in the morning and plays outside in the afternoon. Then she looks at animals or picks flowers. Laura likes living on the prairie.

Drawings:

The drawings actually tell the story. They are beautiful and sweet and alive. Made by Renée Graef and Susan McAliley. The drawings are: a girl in the wind in front of a house on the prairie, a girl sweeping, two girls in the grass, a prairie animal and a girl on the prairie looking out over cultivated land and a farm. There are also small pictures of animals, a sun hat and two girls lying down.

Own opinion:

Received this book in 2021 with the shipment from Susan Dugan. I wanted the book to complete the series of children's books and because of the drawings by Renée Graef. And they are worth it. The story is very simple.
