Samenvatting:

Een kinderboekje over het echte levensverhaal van Laura. Heel vlug vertelt, heel algemeen. Een beetje verdeeld in 10 hoofdstukken. Het is voor de jongere kinderen, want er staan woorden dikgedrukt en deze worden achterin uitgelegd (inclusief hoe je ze uitspreekt).

Het gaat over het kleine huis in het grote bos en wanneer dat werd gepubliceerd. Dan een stukje over de prairie. Dan over de verschillende verhuizingen. Dan gaat het over dat Mary blind word. Het gaat over dat pa graag viool speelt om het gezin te plezieren en te ondersteunen in moeilijke tijden. Dan over Almanzo en Rose en dat de oogst mislukt. Dan de verhuizing naar Mansfield en het opbouwen van de boerderij daar. Vervolgens over de boeken. Het is allemaal behoorlijk algemeen. Vluchtig besproken. Leest wel vlot.

Het is een oud bibliotheekboek. In het boek staan ook steeds korte stukjes uit de boeken die gaan over de inhoud van het hoofdstukje.

Tekeningen:

Er staan foto’s in het boek. Het zijn bekende foto’s zoals van Pa en Ma de trouwfoto, foto van de drie zusjes, foto van het huis in Mansfield en de viool. Een foto van Laura en een tekening van Garth Williams. Ook een foto van kleine Rose en Laura’s bureautje in Mansfield. Verder staan er wat kleine foto’s in van een olielamp, trouwfoto Almanzo en Laura, de huifkar van Almanzo en Laura’s porseleinen doosje. Een brievenbus, de klok en Laura’s schrijfdesk.

Eigen mening:

Boek gekocht in 2021 en mee laten sturen in het pakket van Susan Duggan. Het is een soort schoolboek. Het is wel mooi, maar een kinderboek, met grote letters.

Summary:

A children's book about Laura's real life story. Told very quickly, very general. Divided into 10 chapters. It is for younger children, because words are in bold and explained at the back (including how to pronounce them).

It is about the little house in the big woods and when it was published. Then a bit about the prairie. Then about the various moves. Then it is about Mary going blind. It is about Pa's love of playing the violin to please and support the family in difficult times. Then about Almanzo and Rose and the failure of the harvest. Then the move to Mansfield and building up the farm there. Then about the books. It is all quite general. Discussed quickly. Reads smoothly.

It is an old library book. The book also contains short pieces from the books that are about the content of the chapter.

Drawings:

There are photos in the book. They are familiar photos such as Pa and Ma's wedding photo, photo of the three sisters, photo of the house in Mansfield and the violin. A photo of Laura and a drawing by Garth Williams. Also a photo of little Rose and Laura's desk in Mansfield. There are also some small photos of an oil lamp, wedding photo of Almanzo and Laura, Almanzo's covered wagon and Laura's porcelain box. A mailbox, the clock and Laura's writing desk.

Own opinion:

Book bought in 2021 and had it sent in the package from Susan Duggan. It is a kind of school book. It is beautiful, but a children's book, with large letters.
