Samenvatting:

Een mooi boek helemaal over de periode van de strenge winter. Elke maand = elk hoofdstuk is hetzelfde ingedeeld. Er is een kalender met daarin de dagen dat er echt een sneeuwstorm was, dan volgt een stukje over de familie Ingalls en uit het boek, dan komen stukken van verslaggevers uit de regio en wat zij in hun krant plaatsten over de sneeuwstorm ed, dan volgen stukjes van de spoorwegmaatschappijen en hoe zij de winter ervaarden en wat ze deden. Ook wordt vaak de situatie in De Smet besproken.

Tekeningen:

Vooral foto’s van sneeuwhopen en treinen in de sneeuw. Een aantal bekende foto’s van de familie. Foto’s van verslaggevers, waar veel gebruik van is gemaakt. Veel van treinen in de sneeuw. Verder ook veel schema’s. Van de treinen, een plattegrond van de spoorwegen in die tijd en welke maatschappij eigenaar was van de spoorlijn. En verder bij elk hoofdstuk een stuk kalender.

Eigen mening:

Gekregen in 2019-2020. Een van de nieuwere boeken, maar wel heel interessant. Boek gaat echt goed in op de periode, alles is uitgezocht. Interessant om te lezen en ook wel veel informatie. Veel korte stukjes, waardoor je niet vloeiend leest, maar wel leuk. Het is HEEL VEEL informatie over een korte periode van een maand of 8, maar heel duidelijk, heel veel en ook prettig leesbaar.

Summary:

A beautiful book all about the period of the Hard Winter. Each month = each chapter is divided the same. There is a calendar with the days that there was a real snowstorm, then a piece about the Ingalls family and from the book, then pieces from reporters from the region and what they placed in their newspaper about the snowstorm, etc., then pieces from the railway companies and how they experienced the winter and what they did. The situation in De Smet is also often discussed.

Drawings:

Mainly photos of snowdrifts and trains in the snow. A number of well-known photos of the family. Photos from reporters, which have been used a lot. Many of trains in the snow. Also many diagrams. Of the trains, a map of the railways at that time and which company owned the railway line. And furthermore a piece of calendar with each chapter.

Own opinion:

Received in 2019-2020. One of the newer books, but very interesting. Book really goes into the period, everything is researched. Interesting to read and also a lot of information. Many short pieces, so you don't read fluently, but still fun. It is A LOT of information about a short period of about 8 months, but very clear, a lot and also pleasant to read.
