Samenvatting:

Prachtige teksten, veel recepten. De recepten zijn allemaal gelinkt aan Laura Ingalls Wilder en duidelijk beschreven. De teksten zijn geweldig. Heel mooi, heel betrokken, vernieuwend, heerlijk geschreven. Erg interessant. Het boek is ingedeeld in 5 hoofdstukken met recepten voor: hoofdgerechten, groente en bijgerechten, Brood, nagerechten en drinken. Voor elk recept staat een stukje tekst over Laura Ingalls Wilder en haar familie en hun manieren en mogelijkheden voor koken. De teksten verwijzen vaak naar de foto die op de pagina staat. Daarna staat er een recept. Elk recept bestaat uit een kopje “benodigdheden” en “bereidingswijze”. Vrijwel elk recept bestaat uit 1 bladzijde en heel soms uit 2. De bereidingswijze is kort en krachtig.

Tekeningen:

Het hele boek bevat prachtige foto’s van Rocky Ridge Farm!!! Sommige heel gedetailleerd, zeer lieflijk, scherp. Echt zo mooi. Bijna alles is in kleur. De foto’s zijn vernieuwend en een genoegen om te bekijken. Bijna iedere bladzijde heeft een foto. De foto’s zijn heel scherp. De eerste foto is een doorkijkje door de voordeur van Rocky Ridge op een herfstdag. Er is een foto van Laura en van het complete huis. Een foto van Laura’s receptenboek en de keuken in Rocky Ridge. Een foto van de viool op een lappendeken, de glazen broodschaal, fossielen in steen, een zonsopkomst, Laura’s stoel bij de tafel, een comfortabele leunstoel in de woonkamer, een dakraam, van de maan boven het huis met verlichte ramen, het orgel, de zijkant van het huis met zonsondergang, mais in een schaal op de trap, Laura’s schrijftafeltje, Laura’s fornuis, Laura’s schort, Laura’s servies, een cake, de brievenbus de woonkamer van Rocky Ridge in de zon, de muziekhoek in het huis, een mandje eieren, Laura’s boek met huishoudelijke tips, een mandje citroenen en een mandje met Laura’s kruidkoek, een inzoom van Laura’s aanrecht, Laura’s schommelstoel, een mandje appels, het Rock-house, een brief van Ma, Laura’s naaidoos en deken, Laura’s handschoenen en hoed, de eettafel, de schommelbank op de veranda, boeken, de gedekte eettafel en Rose’ Turkse theeservies voor de haard. Eigen mening:

Boekje in 2020 via Marktplaats gevonden, zomaar. In Eindhoven. Prachtige en verrassende aanwinst. Zulke mooie foto’s! interessante teksten. De recepten zal ik niet perse maken, maar de foto’s en informatie maken het boek heel waardevol. De foto’s zijn echt geweldig om naar te kijken, heel warm en mooi. En ook de teksten en recepten zijn interessant. Het was echt een mooie verrassing hoe leuk dit boek was.

Summary:

Beautiful text, many recipes. The recipes are all linked to Laura Ingalls Wilder and clearly described. The text is fantastic. Very beautiful, very engaging, innovative, wonderfully written. Very interesting. The book is divided into five chapters with recipes for: main courses, vegetables and side dishes, bread, desserts, and drinks. Each recipe includes a short text about Laura Ingalls Wilder and her family and their cooking methods and abilities. The text often refers to the photo on the page. Then there is a recipe. Each recipe consists of a heading "ingredients" and "method of preparation." Almost every recipe is one page long, and very occasionally two. The instructions are short and sweet.

Illustrations:

The entire book contains beautiful photos of Rocky Ridge Farm! Some are very detailed, very sweet, and sharp. Truly beautiful. Almost everything is in color. The photos are innovative and a pleasure to look at. Almost every page has a photo. The photos are very sharp. The first photo is a view through the front door of Rocky Ridge on a fall day. There's a photo of Laura and of the entire house. There's also a photo of Laura's recipe book and the kitchen at Rocky Ridge. A photograph of the violin on a patchwork quilt, the glass bread plate, fossils in stone, a sunrise, Laura’s chair at the table, a comfortable armchair in the living room, a skylight, the moon over the house with lighted windows, the organ, the side of the house at sunset, corn in a bowl on the stairs, Laura’s writing table, Laura’s stove, Laura’s apron, Laura’s dishes, a cake, the mailbox, the living room at Rocky Ridge in the sun, the music corner in the house, a basket of eggs, Laura’s book of housekeeping tips, a basket of lemons and a basket of Laura’s gingerbread, a zoom in on Laura’s kitchen counter, Laura’s rocking chair, a basket of apples, the Rock House, a letter from Ma, Laura’s sewing box and blanket, Laura’s gloves and hat, the dining table, the porch swing, books, the table setting, and Rose’s Turkish tea set in front of the fireplace. My own opinion:

Found this book on Marktplaats in 2020, just like that. In Eindhoven. A beautiful and surprising find. Such beautiful photos! Interesting texts. I won't necessarily make the recipes, but the photos and information make the book very valuable. The photos are truly wonderful to look at, very warm and beautiful. And the texts and recipes are also interesting. It was a wonderful surprise how much I enjoyed this book.
