Dit boek wil je niet voor de tekst, want het is een invulboek. Het is het baby-boek voor het eerste jaar, waarin je invult wat je kindje meemaakt. Dus: een stamboom, hoe ik er uit zag, wat mijn ouders zeiden toen ze me zagen, wat er in de wereld gebeurde, wie er het eerst op bezoek kwam, ontvangen kadootjes, waar ik woonde, wanneer ik tandjes kreeg, een dagschema, de eerste stapjes, kruipen, enzovoorts, enzovoorts. Ook nog een beetje het tweede, derde en vierde jaar.

Tekeningen:

De tekeningen zijn van Renée Graef. Allen ondersteunend aan de kopjes en onderwerpen. Natuurlijk lief en passend en ook weer allemaal nieuw. De tekeningetjes zijn wel klein. De tekeningen relateren aan de familie Ingalls. Als fan zijn ze herkenbaar. Een viool, een hond, kerstsokken, pop Charlotte, een klok, een blokhut.

Eigen mening:

Ik heb het boek gekregen in 2021 bij de levering van Susan Duggan. Het is een invulboek en ik zal het, verwacht ik, niet gebruiken. Het gaat over baby’s eerste jaar. Het gaat mij om de tekeningen.

Summary:

You don't want this book for the text, because it's a fill-in book. It's a baby book for the first year, where you fill in what your child experiences. So: a family tree, what I looked like, what my parents said when they saw me, what was happening in the world, who came to visit first, gifts received, where I lived, when I got teeth, a daily schedule, first steps, crawling, and so on. There's also a bit of the second, third, and fourth year.

Illustrations:

The illustrations are by Renée Graef. All support the headings and topics. Sweet and fitting, of course, and all new. The drawings are small. The illustrations relate to the Ingalls family. As a fan, they're recognizable. A violin, a dog, Christmas stockings, a Charlotte doll, a clock, a log cabin.

My opinion:

I received the book in 2021 when it was delivered by Susan Duggan. It's a fill-in book, and I don't expect I'll use it. It's about a baby's first year.  It's the drawings that matter to me.
