Samenvatting:

Het begint te vertellen over de jeugdjaren van Laura en haar reizen in de huifkar met Pa en Ma. Tevens worden er linken met de boeken gelegd, of juist vertelt welke stukken werden weggelaten en waarom.

In het tweede deel wordt vertelt over Laura en haar ontwikkeling tot de schrijfster die ze is geworden. Over het aandeel van Rose in de boeken.

Er is veel gebruik gemaakt van eerder verschenen biografieën oa van Miller, Hines en Anderson. Ook is er veel verwijzing naar correspondentie tussen Laura en Rose. Het proces wordt erg goed beschreven.

Het boek heeft 17 hoofdstukken.

Tekeningen:

Er staan maar weinig foto’s in het boek en de foto’s die er staan, zijn de bekende foto’s. Zoals de foto’s van Pa en Ma, de familiefoto van de familie Ingalls, de trouwfoto van Almanzo en Laura, Almanzo en Laura op leeftijd in de Badlands, een foto van het landmeters-huis, een foto van Rocky Ridge, een foto van Rose en foto’s van kaften van de eerste druk van de boeken.

Eigen mening:

Een zeer interessant boek om te lezen. wel kleine letters en moeilijker Engels. Maar goed gedocumenteerd en uitgezocht.

Een mooi boek over Laura’s leven.

Resume:

It starts to tell about Laura's childhood and her travels in the covered wagon with Ma and Pa. Links are also made with the books, or it tells which parts were left out and why.

The second part tells about Laura and her development into the writer she has become. About Rose's part in the books.

Much use has been made of previously published biographies, including those of Miller, Hines and Anderson. There are also many references to correspondence between Laura and Rose. The process is very well described.

The book has 17 chapters.

Drawings:

There are few photos in the book and the photos that are there are the well-known photos. Such as the photos of Ma and Pa, the family photo of the Ingalls family, the wedding photo of Almanzo and Laura, Almanzo and Laura at age in the Badlands, a photo of the surveyor's house, a photo of Rocky Ridge, a photo of Rose and photos of covers of the first edition of the books.

Own opinion:

A very interesting book to read. small letters and more difficult English. But well documented and researched.

A beautiful book about Laura's life.
