Samenvatting:

Een boek vol korte teksten die de foto's begeleidden. Het boek is gemaakt om mensen die niet in Amerika wonen beelden te tonen van het land en de spullen van Laura Ingalls Wilder. Tevens zijn er korte gedichten opgenomen van Laura en Mary. Brieven, redenen waarom dingen gemaakt zijn.

Het boek bevat 13 hoofdstukken en 5 aanvullingen. De hoofdstukken zijn ingedeeld volgens de plaatsen waar Laura heeft gewoond, dus: Wisconsin, Kansas, Walnut Grove, Burr Oak, Silver Lake, De lange Winter, De Smet. Daarna gaat het over Laura, Almanzo en Rose en het huis in Third Street. Een hoofdstuk “uit het familie-album” en dan over het kleine huis in de Ozarks. Vervolgens nog een hoofdstuk over Rose en Almanzo in Malone. Het voorwoord is geschreven door William Anderson en daarna volgt de introductie. Elk hoofdstuk begint met een korte introductie en daarna foto’s die passen bij het hoofdstuk. Deze foto’s worden begeleidt door korte teksten.

Tekeningen:

De foto's zijn mooi. Duidelijk, scherp, verschillende grote. Er staan heel veel foto's in het boek, ook bijzondere foto's van spullen die van Laura en haar familie zijn geweest. Foto's van het interieur van de huizen in De Smet en in Mansfield, ook van het Rockhouse. Ook foto's van Mary, Carrie en Grace en Rose. Ook een paar foto's van Almanzo op de boerderij Rocky Ridge. Veel foto's van landschappen ook. En gebouwen. Verder tussendoor tekeningen van Garth Williams en Helen Sewell. Het boek begint met een mooie foto van Pa’s viool.

De foto’s zijn van vroeger en nu. Het zijn familie-foto’s en van personen of van landschappen.

Eigen mening:

Zeer mooi boek vol foto’s en teksten en uitleg. Een van de boeken die ik toegestuurd heb gekregen toen papa en mama de eerste bestelling hebben gedaan rond mijn 16^e jaar. Een van mijn meest geliefde boeken, omdat het de wereld van Laura Ingalls dichterbij bracht dan ik ooit voor mogelijk had gehouden. Er staan ook veel onbekende foto’s in het boek. Het boek is voor mij echt een schat.

Het is een zeer interessant boek en de foto's maken het helemaal een prachtig boek.

A book full of short texts that accompanied the photos. The book was created to show people who do not live in America images of the country and things of Laura Ingalls Wilder. Short poems by Laura and Mary have also been included. Letters, reasons why things are made.

The book contains 13 chapters and 5 additions. The chapters are divided according to the places where Laura lived, so: Wisconsin, Kansas, Walnut Grove, Burr Oak, Silver Lake, De Long Winter, De Smet. Then it turns to Laura, Almanzo and Rose and the house on Third Street. A chapter “from the family album” and about the little house in the Ozarks. Then another chapter on Rose and Almanzo in Malone. The foreword was written by William Anderson, followed by the introduction. Each chapter starts with a short introduction and then photos that match the chapter. These photos are accompanied by short texts.

Drawings:

The photos are beautiful. Clear, sharp, different sizes. There are many photos in the book, including special photos of items that belonged to Laura and her family. Photos of the interior of the houses in De Smet and Mansfield, also of the Rockhouse. Also pictures of Mary, Carrie and Grace and Rose. Also a few photos of Almanzo at the Rocky Ridge farm. Lots of photos of landscapes too. And buildings. Also in between drawings by Garth Williams and Helen Sewell. The book starts with a beautiful photo of Pa's violin.

The photos are from the past and present. They are family photos and of people or landscapes.

Own opinion:

Very nice book full of photos, texts and explanations. One of the books I received when my parents placed their first order to surprise me for my 16th birthday. One of my most beloved books, because it brought the world of Laura Ingalls closer than I ever thought possible. There are also many unknown photos in the book. The book is a real treasure for me.

It is a very interesting book and the photos make it a beautiful book.
