Een boek vol met artikelen van Laura Ingalls, geschreven voor verschillende bladen. Onder ieder artikel staat de maand en jaar dat het is gepubliseerd. Tussen de artikelen door zijn soms notenbladen van psalmen en hymnes te zien, met tekst. In elk artikel verwijst Laura naar een bijbeltekst die verband houdt met het onderwerp waar ze over schrijft. Een van de mooiste artikelen is de laatste, geschreven vlak na de dood van Ma, waarin Laura mijmert.

De teksten zijn soms best moeilijk, omdat ze geschreven zijn in de stijl van de jaren ’20.

Het boek is ingedeeld in 12 hoofdstukken die een overkoepelende titel hebben, zoals “her husband’s partner”, “give me just one logical reason”. “a new day for women”. Enz.

Tekeningen:

Er staan geen plaatjes in dit boek. Het boek ziet er wel heel netjes uit.

Eigen mening:

Een dik boek vol artikelen van Laura Ingalls Wilder die ze heeft geschreven voor ze aan de boeken begon. De artikelen gaan over alles waar Laura destijds over schreef.

Ik vind het niet altijd makkelijk om Laura’s artikelen te lezen en moet er goed mijn hoofd bij houden. Het leest dan ook niet zo heel snel. Niettemin is het een mooi boek en waardevol om te hebben.

A book full of articles by Laura Ingalls, written for various magazines. Below each article is the month and year it was published. Between the articles you can sometimes see sheet music of psalms and hymns, with text. In each article, Laura refers to a Bible text related to the topic she is writing about. One of the most beautiful articles is the last one, written just after Ma's death, in which Laura muses.

The lyrics are sometimes quite difficult, because they are written in the style of the 1920s.

The book is divided into 12 chapters that have an umbrella title, such as “her husband's partner”, “give me just one logical reason”. “a new day for women”. Etc.

Drawings:

There are no pictures in this book. The book looks very neat.

Own opinion:

A thick book full of articles by Laura Ingalls Wilder that she wrote before she started writing the books. The articles are about everything Laura wrote about at the time.

I don't always find it easy to read Laura's articles and I have to keep my mind on them. It is therefore not very fast to read. Nevertheless, it is a nice book and valuable to have.
