Samenvatting:

Een dun boekje, voor kinderen, dat in sneltreinvaart het verhaal van Laura Ingalls vertelt van haar geboorte in Pepin, Wisconsin tot aan de vestiging in Mansfield, Missouri. Tussen door de hardships die de familie Ingalls en, later, Laura en Almanzo mee te maken kregen.

Het boekje bestaat uit 9 hoofdstukken, waarvan de laatste drie de samenvatting, index en “your turn” zijn. In het boekje wordt de algemene geschiedenis een beetje verweven met het verhaal van Laura Ingalls. De verschillende plaatsen waar ze heeft gewoond worden genoemd.

Tekeningen:

Er staan vrij veel foto’s in het boekje, vaak netjes over elkaar heen geplaatst. Van de Familie Ingalls en Wilder staan er geen onbekende plaatjes in, maar er staan ook wat algemene foto’s in, zoals van een osage kamp, de sprinkhaanplaag, een dug-out, een hek op Rocky Ridge en het bureau in de Brewster-school. Wel mooie foto’s.

Eigen mening:

Simpel boekje, goed te lezen, makkelijke Engels. Niet perse interessant, omdat er weinig nieuws in staat en niet alles klopt helemaal. Vlug vertelt allemaal, niet helemaal juist. Makkelijke geschreven.

Resume:

A thin book, for children, that quickly tells the story of Laura Ingalls from her birth in Pepin, Wisconsin to the settlement in Mansfield, Missouri. In between the hardships that the Ingalls family and, later, Laura and Almanzo had to deal with.

The booklet consists of 9 chapters, the last three of which are the summary, index and “your turn”. In the booklet, the general history is somewhat interwoven with the story of Laura Ingalls. The different places where she lived are mentioned.

Drawings:

There are quite a few photos in the booklet, often neatly placed on top of each other. There are no unknown pictures of the Ingalls and Wilder families, but there are also some general photos, such as an osage camp, the locust plague, a dugout, a fence on Rocky Ridge and the office in the Brewster school. Nice photos.

Own opinion:

Simple book, easy to read, easy English. Not necessarily interesting, because there is little new in it and not everything is completely correct. Tells it all, not entirely correct. Easy written.
