Samenvatting:

Een prachtig boek van William Anderson. Goede tekst en heel veel foto’s en documenten.

De tekst is eenvoudig, maar is het hele verhaal over de familie Ingalls. Tevens worden ook de grootouders besproken. De tekst is eenvoudig en prettig te lezen, hij is erg chronologisch en compleet.

Er staat een foutje in het boek; dat Laura 15 jaar was toen ze begon met lesgeven, terwijl op het officiële certificaat de datum 1883 staat en toen was Laura 16 jaar.

Het boek bevat 12 hoofdstukken, ingedeeld in jaren en begint tussen 1850-1860 en eindigt van 1950-1957.

De tekst volgt het bekende verhaal en gaat uitgebreid in op de bekende situaties uit de boeken en het leven daarna als Laura begint met schrijven.

Het verhaal is prettig geschreven.

Tekeningen:

De foto’s zijn zeer mooi en duidelijk. Foto’s van teksten en briefjes zijn goed te lezen en in originele handschriften. Er zitten een paar heel bijzondere foto’s tussen.  Onbekende foto’s van Laura op verschillende leeftijden, een mooie foto van de bouw van het huis op Rocky Ridge, met de bovenverandaramen er op.  En nog wat oude foto’s van Rocky Ridge. Ook foto’s van Rose en Almanzo. Alle foto’s zijn scherp. Foto’s zijn in kleur en in zwart-wit. Ook zitten er veel “plaatjes” in de boeken, zoals tekeningen van Garth Williams en Helen sewell, maar ook van de kaften van de boeken, telegrammen en brieven van Laura en aan Laura. De meeste foto’s zijn wel bekend, maar de duidelijkheid van de foto’s maakt het boek waardevol. En alle aanvullende informatie die in het boek is gezet.

Eigen mening:

Prachtig boek!!! Mooie, duidelijke, nieuwe foto’s, informatieve teksten, prettig lezen. Een echte aanrader. Erg mooi.

Erg mooi, een ware aanvulling op een grote verzameling.

A beautiful book by William Anderson. Good text and lots of photos and documents.

The text is simple, but is the whole story about the Ingalls family. The grandparents are also discussed. The text is simple and pleasant to read, it is very chronological and complete.

There is an error in the book; that Laura was 15 years old when she started teaching, while on the official certificate the date is 1883 and Laura was 16 years old at that time.

The book contains 12 chapters, divided into years and starts between 1850-1860 and ends from 1950-1957.

The text follows the well-known story and discusses in detail the well-known situations from the books and life afterwards when Laura starts writing.

The story is nicely written.

Drawings:

The photos are very beautiful and clear. Photos of texts and notes are easy to read and in original handwriting. There are some very special photos. Unknown photos of Laura at different ages, a beautiful photo of the construction of the house on Rocky Ridge, showing the upper porch windows. And some old photos of Rocky Ridge. Also photos of Rose and Almanzo. All photos are sharp. Photos are in color and black and white. There are also many “pictures” in the books, such as drawings by Garth Williams and Helen Sewell, but also of the covers of the books, telegrams and letters from Laura and to Laura. Most of the photos are known, but the clarity of the photos makes the book valuable. And all the additional information put into the book.

Own opinion:

Beautiful book!!! Beautiful, clear, new photos, informative texts, pleasant reading. Highly recommended. Very nice.
