Samenvatting:

Een dun boekje voor de jongste kinderen. Een flip-flap boekje. De zin is een vraag, als je deze beantwoord, kun je het flapje omslaan en komt het antwoord. Alles is over kerstmis in het grote bos en dat Mary en Laura iets in hun sok krijgen en Laura ook een pop.

Tekeningen:

Tekeningetjes van Doris Ettlinger zijn meestal lief en levendig. Het eerste plaatje is van een blokhut bedekt met sneeuw, als je het flapje omklapt zie je Laura door een raam kijken. Op de volgende tekening kijkt Ma naar een mooi, uit hout gesneden, plankje, na het omklappen zie je dat ze het herderinnetje er op zet. Op het volgende plaatje staan twee meisjes te kijken naar Ma die iets klopt in een kom, na het omklappen juichen de meisjes omdat ze de lepel mogen aflikken. Op het volgende plaatje staan de meisjes ieder op een boomstronk, na het omklappen ligt Mary in de sneeuw. Dan liggen er twee meisjes te slapen op de grond onder een rode deken, een poes ligt op de deken, na het omklappen zitten de meisjes rechtop in bed. Op de volgende tekening zitten Mary en Laura voor een brandend haardvuur en hebben allebei een sok vast, na het omklappen heet Laura een snoepstok in haar hand en Mary twee rode wanten. Op het laatste plaatje houdt Laura een kado vast, als je het omklapt blijkt het een pop te zijn.

Eigen mening:

Hoewel het verhaaltje ver af staat van de echte boeken, gaat het mij om de tekeningen. En het flip-flap-idee is ook wel leuk. Nieuwe tekeningen ten opzichte van de boeken die ik al heb. Daarom wilde ik dit kinderboekje ook.

Summary:

A thin book for the youngest children. A flip-flap book. The sentence is a question, if you answer it, you can turn the flap and the answer appears. Everything is about Christmas in the big woods and that Mary and Laura get something in their stocking and Laura also gets a doll.

Drawings:

Drawings by Doris Ettlinger are usually sweet and lively. The first picture is of a log cabin covered in snow, if you turn the flap you see Laura looking through a window. In the next drawing Ma is looking at a beautiful, carved wooden board, after turning it over you see that she is putting the shepherdess on it. In the next picture two girls are looking at Ma who is beating something in a bowl, after turning it over the girls cheer because they are allowed to lick the spoon. In the next picture the girls are each standing on a tree stump, after the turn Mary is lying in the snow.Then there are two girls sleeping on the floor under a red blanket, a cat is lying on the blanket, after turning it over the girls are sitting upright in bed. In the next drawing Mary and Laura are sitting in front of a burning fire and both have a sock in their hands, after flipping it Laura has a candy cane in her hand and Mary has two red mittens. In the last picture Laura is holding a present, when you flip it over it turns out to be a doll.

Own opinion:

Although the story is far removed from the real books, I like the drawings. And the flip-flap idea is also nice. New drawings compared to the books I already have. That's why I wanted this children's book.
