Tekeningen:

Er staan tekeningen in het boek. Meestal paginagroot. Het zijn mooie tekeningen, gedetailleerd, levendig. Mary die Laura duwt op de schommel in het bos, Pa die viool speelt voor het haardvuur, Laura die paniekerig sprinkhanen van haar schouder veegt. Een tekening waarbij Pa, Ma en Laura rond het ziekbed van Mary staan, Mary en Laura in de trein, Laura en Carrie in de sneeuwstorm, Laura voor de klas, met een klein kindje aan haar rokken, Almanzo en Laura dik ingepakt in de slee, Laura die probeert om het vuur te doven in de keuken met een huilende Rose aan haar rokken. Laura en Rose in San Francisco tijdens de World Fair. En als laatste een tekening van Laura die aan het schrijven is.

Eigen mening:

Een dun boekje met het hele verhaal. Prettig leesbaar. Mooie tekeningen.

Fourteen chapters, then. It tells the whole story of Laura Ingalls and her life in broad terms.

Drawings:

The book contains drawings, mostly full-page. They are beautiful, detailed, and vivid. Mary pushing Laura on the swing in the woods, Pa playing the violin by the fire, Laura frantically brushing grasshoppers off her shoulder. A drawing of Ma, Pa, and Laura standing around Mary's sickbed; Mary and Laura on the train; Laura and Carrie in a snowstorm; Laura in front of the class, with a small child clinging to her skirt; Almanzo and Laura bundled up in the sleigh; Laura trying to put out the fire in the kitchen with a crying Rose clinging to her skirt; Laura and Rose in San Francisco during the World's Fair. And finally, a drawing of Laura writing.

My opinion:

A small book with the whole story. Easy to read. Beautiful illustrations.
