Samenvatting:

Een boekje vol tekst en foto's. Iedere plaats waar Laura heeft gewoond is uitgewerkt met informatie en stukjes, ook Malone, NY, Spring Valley, Minnesota, en Crowley, Louisiana, is over geschreven. Net als Vinton, Iowa. Een geinig boekje vol informatie. Informatie is wel algemeen. In het boekje wordt bij Pepin nog gesproken over een tour langs allerlei punten zoals “grootvaders boerderij” en “Barry Corner”. Burr Oak wordt ook beschreven. Dan komt De Smet en alles wat daar te zien is. Ook wordt Malone in het boek beschreven. Bij Spring Valley wordt er uitgebreid gesproken over de familie Wilder. Natuurlijk ontbreekt Mansfield ook niet in het boekje, met een uitgebreide beschrijving. Vervolgens nog een stukje over Crowley en Westville en de bibliotheek in Pomona, Californië.

Het boekje is echt geschreven door Evelyn en zij vertelt het vanuit haar ervaringen.

Tekeningen:

Veel foto's in het boekje en ook wel tekeningen. Ook veel foto's van mensen die met de boeken te maken hebben. De foto’s zijn allemaal in zwart-wit. Er is een foto van Mr. And Mrs Gordon die de grond bij Plum Creek beheren. En een foto van een schuur waarin hout van het eerste huis van de familie Ingalls bij Plum Creek is verwerkt. Ook staan er foto’s van Garth Williams en William Anderson in het boekje. Er staat een foto in het boekje van de geboorteplaats van Grace. Er is een oude foto van de begraafplaats in De Smet, waarbij het lijkt alsof Pa’s steen eerst meer naar achteren stond. Er is een foto van een meisje dat de boeken in braille leest. Er zijn foto’s van de winkel van Royal in Spring Valley en van de originele schuur in Spring Valley. Er zijn oude foto’s van de begraafplaats in Mansfield en foto’s van Laura en Almanzo met de familie Seal. Ook staan er foto’s van de grafstenen van de familie Wilder in het boekje.

Eigen mening:

Een leuk boekje, met foto’s, informatie en feiten over alle sites. Eigenlijk erg basic. In mijn boekje staat ook nog een persoonlijk, handgeschreven berichtje van Evelyn Thurman. Dit is eigenlijk het eerste boekje, naar mijn weten, over alle site van Laura Ingalls Wilder. Het is een oud boekje, maar daardoor juist heel waardevol.

Summary:

A booklet full of text and photos. Every place where Laura lived is detailed with information and snippets, including Malone, New York, Spring Valley, Minnesota, and Crowley, Louisiana. Vinton, Iowa, is also described. A fun booklet full of information, though the information is rather general. In the booklet, Pepin mentions a tour of various locations, such as "Grandfather's Farm" and "Barry Corner." Burr Oak is also described. Then comes De Smet and everything there. Malone is also described. The Wilder family is discussed in detail in Spring Valley. Mansfield, of course, is also included, with a detailed description. Then there's a section about Crowley and Westville, and the library in Pomona, California.

The booklet was actually written by Evelyn, and she tells the story from her own experiences.

Drawings:

The booklet contains many photos, including drawings. There are also many photos of people related to the books. The photos are all in black and white. There is a photo of Mr. And Mrs. Gordon, who manages the land at Plum Creek. There's also a photo of a barn that incorporates wood from the Ingalls family's first house at Plum Creek. The booklet also includes photos of Garth Williams and William Anderson. There's a photo of Grace's birthplace. There's an old photo of the cemetery in De Smet, where it looks like Pa's stone used to be further back. There's a photo of a girl reading Braille books. There are photos of Royal's store in Spring Valley and the original barn in Spring Valley. There are old photos of the cemetery in Mansfield and photos of Laura and Almanzo with the Seal family. The booklet also includes photos of the Wilder family's gravestones.

My own opinion:

A nice booklet, with photos, information, and facts about all the sites. It's actually quite basic. My booklet also includes a personal, handwritten note from Evelyn Thurman. This is actually the first booklet, to my knowledge, about all the Laura Ingalls Wilder sites. It is an old book, but that makes it very valuable.
