Het bekende verhaal van Laura, geschreven in de ik-vorm van het begin tot het eind. Het is eenvoudig geschreven. Er worden stukjes aangehaald uit de boeken, zoals de beer in de wei, de reis naar de prairie, het verlies van Jack in de stijgende rivier, indianen in huis, Ma die ziek is, de sprinkhanen die komen, Mary die blind wordt, de koeien die met hun snuit vastvriezen en dan in 1 stap door naar het schrijven van de boeken. Achter in het boek staat een lijstje met moeilijk woorden die zijn uitgelegd.

Tekeningen:

De tekeningen zijn door Robin Laurie. Het zijn leuke tekeningen en er staan nogal veel tekeningen in het dunne boekje. Wel is niet altijd op alle details gelet: zo zie je ergens Laura zitten met Rose op schoot voor een heel chique haard in een chique stoel met een zeer net aangeklede Almanzo erbij en ergens zit Laura op een tafel naar Pa te kijken. Wel is de eerste tekening mooi, waar Laura als baby bij Ma ligt. En andere mooie tekeningen zijn Ma aan het ziekbed van Mary, Pa tussen de sprinkhanen, de dugout en de open huifkar. De eindtekening is ook mooi, waarbij Laura schrijft en zich dingen herinnert. Er staan enkele foto’s in het boek, zoals de familie Ingalls foto en een foto van de blokhut in Pepin in de sneeuw en van de blokhut op de prairie en een foto van Rose.

Eigen mening:

Simpele tekst, mooie tekeningetjes. Voor het verhaal hoef je het boek niet te hebben, maar de tekeningen zijn leuk.

Summary:

The well-known story of Laura, written in the first person from beginning to end. It is written simply. Pieces are quoted from the books, such as the bear in the meadow, the journey to the prairie, the loss of Jack in the rising river, Indians in the house, Ma who is sick, the locusts that come, Mary who goes blind, the cows that freeze with their snouts and then in 1 step on to writing the books. At the back of the book is a list of difficult words that are explained.

Drawings:

The drawings are by Robin Laurie. They are nice drawings and there are quite a few drawings in the thin book. However, not all details have always been paid attention to: for example, somewhere you see Laura sitting with Rose on her lap in front of a very chic fireplace in a chic chair with a very neatly dressed Almanzo and somewhere Laura is sitting on a table looking at Pa. The first drawing is beautiful, where Laura is lying with Ma as a baby. And other beautiful drawings are Ma at Mary's sickbed, Pa among the grasshoppers, the dugout and the open covered wagon. The final drawing is also beautiful, where Laura writes and remembers things. There are some photos in the book, such as the Ingalls family photo and a photo of the log cabin in Pepin in the snow and of the log cabin on the prairie and a photo of Rose.

Own opinion:

Simple text, beautiful drawings. You don't need the book for the story, but the drawings are nice.
